Thu, May 12 - Just Another Powder Day at A-Basin

posted May 11, 2011, 4:43 PM by Brian Duchinsky

With 6 inches last night and another 10-15 inches forecast by tomorrow morning, Thursday is looking to be another powder day at A-Basin!

Mark, Brian and Jim will definitely be getting some turns in tomorrow. If you'd like to join us, Mark will be grabbing first chair at 9:00 am at the Black Mountain Express chair at the base. Brian and Jim should be there about 9:30 am.

We'll also be meeting for lunch around 11:30-noon at the Black Mountain Restaurant (on-mountain).

Call/Text Brian 970-485-4867 or Jim 970-485-4947 if you plan to sync-up.  Note that cell reception can be poor-to-zilch at A-Basin, so it would be best to call/text between 8:00-9:00 am.

Hey bros, still itchin' for a few more turns?

With 7 more inches last night, a powder day and a winter weather advisory today, conditions at Arapahoe Basin should be awesome for Locals' Day on Wednesday!

Plan to meet at the Base Area near the Black Mountain Express lift at 9:00 am.

Lunch at the Black Mountain Restaurant at noon.

Live music starts at 1:00 pm at The Beach.

Call/text Jim at 970.485.4947 or Brian at 970.485.4867 to join in.

Note to you Front Rangers:  Loveland Pass has been closing at least once a day over the last week or so because of snow.  It was closed again this morning.  Call "511" for pass closures if you plan to come up over Loveland Pass to get to A-Basin.

I-70 to Close Tue-Wed Apr 5-6

posted Apr 3, 2011, 11:14 AM by Brian Duchinsky

Hey all you powder hounds thinking about coming up to the High Country for a few turns later this week ...

You should know that I-70 will be effectively shutdown in BOTH directions from Silverthorne to Empire/Grandby on Tue Apr 5 and Wed Apr 6 from 9 am to 5 pm.

The only way into Summit County from the Front Range will be via US 40 over Berthoud Pass, or CO 9/285 over Hoosier Pass.  For locals, also expect heavy traffic on those highways when I-70 is completely diverted.

Officials at Loveland Ski Area are advising Front Range snowriders arrive before 9 am and stay past 5 pm - or face a 110-mile, 4-hr detour through Silverthorne.

Here's a link to the backstory:  http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/27365441/detail.html

BTW, there's a white-out in Frisco right now as I write this.  Definitely a powder day on Monday at Copper Mountain!
