Hey all you powder hounds thinking about coming up to the High Country for a few turns later this week ... You should know that I-70 will be effectively shutdown in BOTH directions from Silverthorne to Empire/Grandby on Tue Apr 5 and Wed Apr 6 from 9 am to 5 pm. The only way into Summit County from the Front Range will be via US 40 over Berthoud Pass, or CO 9/285 over Hoosier Pass. For locals, also expect heavy traffic on those highways when I-70 is completely diverted. Officials at Loveland Ski Area are advising Front Range snowriders arrive before 9 am and stay past 5 pm - or face a 110-mile, 4-hr detour through Silverthorne. Here's a link to the backstory: http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/27365441/detail.html BTW, there's a white-out in Frisco right now as I write this. Definitely a powder day on Monday at Copper Mountain! Brian Type A Neo-Hippie Frisco, CO |
